With a construction value of £25.1m, The Appleby Blue Almshouse brings a new retirement community to Bermondsey. Of the 57 new homes, 51 are one bedroom flats and 6 are two-bedroom. The 5,800 sqm allows for a community centre, lounge,, activities room, kitchen, spa and beauty room; as well as a garden.
Hartree, Cambridge, for LandsecU+I and TOWN, presented by Frances Wright, Head of Community Partnering, TOWN and Oliver Deed, Managing Director, ECF
Named after Eva Hartree, (1873-1947), the first female mayor of Cambridge, 49ha of industrial and brownfield land are being transformed into a new mixed-use neighbourhood for 10,000 people with the Engagement Strategy for Hartree at its core. 5,600 homes are to be built in the projected £3bn GDV Hartree district. The new cultural centre will include a mix of retail, hotel, community and leisure, education and public space.

Tooting Works, 89 Bickersteth Road, is a workspace for 68 organisations with 97 office spaces spread over 4273 sqm The £450,000 budget was allocated to have flexibility built in, enabled by the use of lightweight, freestanding furniture, both custom-made and reclaimed. An open kitchen and dining space supports the local community by facilitating cooking classes and expanding on the success of local catering initiatives funded by the charity.
The Pineapples: A selection of placemaking projects from across the UK, chosen to showcase the wide range of work taking place right now, presented by developers, architects, local authorities, charities, community groups and landscape professionals. All projects were shortlisted at The Pineapples 2024 awards for place.
