Across 44 different postcodes and sites, GreenUP has enhanced access to local greenspace for 500,000 residents in Liverpool. The project has planted 100,000 trees and shrubs, and created accessible walking routes, increasing walking by 13.9% and footfall for local businesses. The interventions have increased pollinators by 928%, reduced air surface temperatures by 7.2C degrees and diverted 5,200,000 litres of water from sewers, reducing flooding.

Tendring District Council is investing £120m into Jaywick Sands to address housing quality, the high flood risk and economic opportunity, as part of a 20 year placemaking plan, £84m of which is to be set-aside for flood defences. The project includes 139sqm affordable workspace in the Sunspot business centre, which includes a covered market.

The West End Project includes multiple projects across the Tottenham Court Road area created with Camden Council’s £35m investment. Camden’s Biodiversity Action Plan guided planting proposals, with over 8,000 herbaceous and structural new plants and over 13,000 bulb plants. Climate resilience initiatives include 1,000sqm of new planting area and almost 2,400sqm of new permeable paving, alongside general traffic reduction and the addition of 2.6km of cycle lanes.

The Northfield Grove housing estate aims to incorporate green infrastructure to the neglected site. The project is part of Scotland’s Place Based Investment Programme (PBIP), with a £1.998m fund and a delivery estimate of £750,000. The development includes the installation of a green spine rain-garden to manage and control surface water runoff alongside soft landscaping improvements.

Located on the junction of Bulwer Road and Drayton Road in Waltham Forest, this demonstration project converts a traffic island into a low-maintenance and decorative urban garden, composed of recycled construction materials with a number of new trees and unique insect habitats. The £60,000 project focused on education, teaching circular strategies for urban climate resilience using a Forest Garden Toolkit.
